General Orthopedics
Joseph Halphen is a proud, lifelong Louisiana resident who earned his BS degree in Biological Sciences from Louisiana State University. Afterward, he went on to earn his degree as a Physician Assistant at the Louisiana State University Health Science Center in Shreveport. During this time, Joseph realized that his passion was in the field of orthopedics, and he went on to complete his preceptorship in the specialty, which included orthopedic trauma surgery, orthopedic sports medicine and rounding on post-operative orthopedic patients in the hospital. After passing his national board exam in 2007, he began his orthopedic career by working at the Bone and Joint Clinic with Dr. Alan Schroeder.
After leaving to serve as the Director of Providers for Lake After Hours Urgent Care in 2009, Joseph was excited to return to not only the field of orthopedics, but to the Bone and Joint Clinic team in May of 2020. Today, in addition to bringing orthopedic care to patients in and around West Baton Rouge Parish, he is a member of both the LAPA, AAPA and currently studying to sit for his board certification in orthopedics. Joseph also serves as a clinical instructor for Physician Assistant Students for LSU Shreveport and has written medical articles for several publications.
When he isn’t caring for patients, Joseph enjoys spending time with his wife and four children, ranging in age from 7 to 18 years old.
